Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the 'Boro Buggy Bash FAQs! Have a question you don't see listed here? Don't be afraid to ask! We anticipate plenty of questions as this is our first ever 'Boro Buggy Bash. We want everyone to feel as prepared as possible, so feel free to e-mail Julie at [email protected] or call/text (931) 993-4715 with any questions you may have. We will continue to fill out this page as we receive more questions!

Do we provide our own buggy? How do we get one?
Yes, your team is responsible for providing your own buggy. You'll want to get it well before the event to have time to decorate it! Many local grocery stores are willing to let you borrow a buggy. Just ask!

How many people are allowed per team?
Teams can consist of anywhere from 4 to 8 people. This can be your family, friends, trivia team, book club, small group, business, school club, volunteer group... anyone can 'Boro Buggy Bash!

Are kids allowed to race?
Kids 6 and over are allowed to participate. Kids under 6 are welcome but will not be allowed on the race course.

My team and I collected way more than 70 lbs. of food. What do we do with it all?
That's fantastic! If you have more than 70 lbs. of food, you can bring it the day-of. Or, if it is A LOT of food (150+ lbs.), you can bring it by our warehouse beforehand. We are typically open Monday through Friday from around 8 to 3 and on Wednesday nights after 6, but we can work with you if you need to drop off at another day and time. We'll weigh it in and be sure it is added to your team's food drive totals. To arrange a drop-off, call Julie at (931) 993-4715 or e-mail [email protected]

How will the relay race work?
To prevent cheating, all the rules and details of the relay race will be explained before we get started the day-of. You'll never know what kind of surprises will be at the 'Boro Buggy Bash!

What do I need to bring with me the day-of?
Just bring your team (already dressed in costume!), your decorated buggy, your food donations, and a sense of humor. Oh, and bring some extra cash... there just might be opportunities to purchase sabotages (AKA "Speed Bumps") you can place on other teams! We are also working on getting some food trucks on site so stay tuned.

What kinds of foods do we need to collect and bring?
Please bring food in these 6 main categories: 1) Peanut butter and jelly 2) Beans, rice, and pasta 3) Canned chili and soups 4) Canned fruits 5) Canned vegetables 6) Canned meats (tuna, Vienna sausages, etc.)

We hosted a food drive and people donated foods outside of the 6 main categories. Is that ok?
No worries at all! Just bring it with everything else. Just try to stick to the 6 categories the best you can.

So the day-of, do we bring the food already in the cart?
Just bring your food in grocery bags or boxes. Then, when you arrive and check in, you'll go to our weigh-in station to see how many lbs. of food your team brought in. Then, after weigh-in, you can transfer your food to your cart.

Can I bring my pet?
No! Please, no live animals unless they are medically required.

Are we required to fundraise? How does that work?
All teams will be set up with a fundraising page on our website. Remember, there will be a trophy and prizes for top fundraising team! Every $1 you raise provides enough food for 10 to 15 meals for our neighbors in need! There are so many ways you can fundraise. Spread the word to your family, friends, coworkers, etc. and ask if they will support your team in providing food to our neighbors in need who can't always afford groceries on their own. We also have sponsorships available. Any sponsors you acquire will be added to your fundraising totals. Every $1 raised helps us create a Hunger Free Tennessee!
